MeshBox combines routing and storage, addressing community users directly. It enables everyone to become a distributed operator, fostering the next generation of decentralized Huawei and Cisco. MeshBox can be placed anywhere network access is needed and can connect to devices (smartphones, IoT hardware, etc.), acting as their gateway to the internet. Using MeshBox technology, environments with internet access can establish information channels with MeshBoxes globally distributed, forming a network. In environments without internet access, nearby MeshBox devices can be discovered to create a local network. As a routing node on the Mesh network and an off-chain transaction node for the Lightning Network, MeshBox earns a certain amount of SMT rewards. By contributing hard drive space and cached data resources to the system, MeshBox receives corresponding MESH tokens.
Project Introduction
MeshBox is a decentralized, open-source hardware protocol and a mining-capable hardware box developed based on the SmartMesh protocol. It merges Mesh network routing and content storage distribution functions. MeshBox can support other application functionalities under the SmartMesh protocol. Each MeshBox provides a node for the mesh network, and as more nodes are deployed globally, people can connect anytime and anywhere through nearby nodes, building a global distributed blockchain Mesh network. MeshBox implements the data routing protocol for the Mesh network - akin to IGP and BGP running on Cisco, and the file exchange protocol for the Mesh network - similar to the HTTP standard on the Internet, operating on top of the Box hardware.
Project Features
MeshBox Mechanism
The access and aggregation node for the Mesh network. Smartphones and various IoT devices are terminal nodes in the Mesh network, relying on it for information exchange.
MeshBox Routing
In environments with internet access, MeshBoxes can establish information channels globally, completing the network. In areas without internet access, nearby MeshBox devices can be discovered to form a local network. Within a MeshBox network, users communicate peer-to-peer, achieving robust, stable, and private connections.
MeshBox Content Storage and Distribution
Users store data on their own MeshBoxes instead of central servers, significantly reducing the possibility of data loss. Users can set access policies for their MeshBoxes. Data on instant messaging and social networks is merely linked or mirrored within MeshBoxes, enhancing personal data security and privacy. When others need to access your data, they establish a connection with your MeshBox for data exchange, which can be free or paid based on user-defined settings.
MeshBox and the SmartMesh Public Chain Spectrum
MeshBox runs the full node process and Lightning Network node for SmartMesh. In environments with internet access, each MeshBox has the right to mine blocks for the SmartMesh blockchain. The system assigns different block mining probabilities to each MeshBox based on its contribution to data exchange, with contributions dynamically calculated and globally adjusted. In areas without internet, MeshBoxes provide off-grid payment services based on the Lightning Network.
Node Access for MeshBox
MeshBox offers access services for various IoT devices, enabling cross-network communication.
MeshBox Reward Model
As a routing and off-chain payment transaction node on the Mesh network, MeshBox earns a certain number of SmartMesh Public Chain Spectrum Tokens (SMT) as rewards. By contributing hard drive space and cached data resources to the network system, MeshBox receives corresponding MeshBox Tokens (MESH) as rewards. In the future, MeshBox will also participate in numerous DApps, earning rewards from them.
Application Scenarios
Crowded Concerts
At concerts where thousands of attendees gather to share live moments via WeChat Moments or Weibo, network congestion often makes sharing photos and videos impossible. With MeshBox nodes, the base stations network capacity can be effectively distributed, allowing seamless sharing.
Confidential File Sharing in the Office
To avoid centralized communication tools snooping on and leaking confidential office documents during transmission, a Mesh network built using MeshBox enables point-to-point rapid transfers that are convenient, fast, and secure.
Shared Networks in Communities
Within communities, a Mesh network can be easily deployed using a few MeshBox boxes. In this network, video and images can be transmitted inexpensively and conveniently. Community members can also share excess mobile data plans, benefiting others while earning income. In the event of disasters like earthquakes, when cell towers collapse, MeshBoxes can provide emergency networks.
Pilot Project in Vanuatu
In the South Pacific island of Vanuatu, where there are no internet cables and limited power supply, a few MeshBoxes with a 2km radius, powered by solar energy, can cover every corner of the island with minimal electricity consumption. Residents can connect to the islands network via their smartphones, sharing digital content resources on MeshBoxes and communicating with each other. This simple, quick mini internet network can likely be established within a day.
