Coincheck is one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in Japan, with a monthly trading volume of $26 million. Trading fees range from 0.1% to 0.15%, with users earning back a certain amount of trading fees through the Maker-taker system.
CEO and founder Koichiro Wada is a veteran programmer who graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology; COO and co-founder Yusuke Otsuka, the team members each have their own expertise, but they all have one thing in common: they can all code.
On September 13, 2017, Coincheck announced that it had been approved as a licensed "virtual currency exchange." The exchange registration approval complies with Article 63-3 of the "National Funds Settlement Act".
